  1. #33 - Robert McFerrin at the Edmonton Gardens, December 3, 1954: Almost 2 months later (January 27, 1955), Mr. McFerrin became the first African American performer at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. The first African American to perform at the Met was Marian Anderson, who did so earlier that same month. Mr. McFerrin is also the father of performer Robert McFerrin Jr., also known as Bobby McFerrin (of "Don't Worry, Be Happy" fame).
