Vintage Edmonton Ephemera: Empire Theatre Program, Ethel Barrymore In "Whiteoaks" (April 25-26, 1939)

The Legendary actor Ethel Barrymore toured Western Canada in the spring of 1939 with a touring company,including Alan Hale, father of Alan Hale Jr. of Gilligan's Island, and Robert Shayne, who found fame in the 1950's TV version of Superman.

Both the upper crust and working class citizens of Edmonton clamored for tickets, and matinees and evening shows were quickly sold out.
