ABBA was one of the world's biggest musical groups as they started their 1979 North American Tour; though the band were superstars in Canada, the US market was still relatively ripe for the taking and the tour was to be the group's coronation for their US fans.
Edmonton was picked to begin the tour on September 13, 1979 at Northlands Coliseum; ABBA used the date to work out any kinks in the set itself, and enjoyed the royalty treatment from both devoted fans and press alike:
