Vintage Edmonton Film: Viet Nam Peace March, Downtown Edmonton (April 27, 1968)

 via cdncountryvideo, this 3:29 second clip of a April 27, 1968 Viet Nam War Peace March through Downtown Edmonton to the Legislature grounds is fascinating on multiple levels. The march starts at City Hall, going down 100th street past the Court House and Post Office (all now gone, of course), then turning onto Jasper Avenue past many heritage buildings such as The Strand and Capitol Theatres, and Johnstone-Walker, then arriving at The Legislature. The incident where Dr. James Endicott was hit with a paint balloon from a coiunter-protester is shown here, as well as described in the Journal article below. A fascinating a turbulent moment in the city's history. The music is done by Bryan Fustukian, a longtime Edmonton and Alberta songwriter/performer:
